Hey babes! I wanted to start a collection series where I went through my makeup by type but I just don’t think I have enough of some categories to make a decent post and others I have way too much to fit in one post, e.g. lipstick and eyeshadow! 😂 I figured it would be more worthwhile to go through my collection by brand! I’m going to try to do one brand collection post a month! I’m starting out with one of my favorite brands, Besame Cosmetics!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know that I’m obsessed with all things vintage! I actually collect vintage compacts & lipsticks! Besame designs all their products after actual vintage makeup. The packaging is so beautiful!! Since I have collected almost all of Besame’s makeup, I thought it was time to let y’all know my thoughts on them! I’m going to split them up into loves & likes. I haven’t tried anything from them that I hated. This is going to be a looooong post so you might want to get a snack! 😂
I linked everything to Besame’s website but you can also find them on Sephora, Dermstore, & Modcloth! Just an FYI.. You can get a 20% off coupon from Besame & Dermstore if you are a first time customer by signing up for their newsletters! Dermstore has free shipping & Besame’s is free over $50. The other day I logged in to Besame’s site and added a few things to my cart. A few hours later I was emailed a reminder about the things in my cart and it included a free shipping coupon code! I just thought I would let y’all know in case you wanted anything!
Classic Color Lipstick ($22) I absolutely LOVE Besame’s lipsticks!! They are my favorite lipsticks! They are full color, have a pretty long staying power, & are just the right consistency. If I double blot like they suggest, I get even better staying power. You might think it’s shaped weird but it’s shaped like that to help line your lips. I still use a lip liner but I actually really like their shape! Red Hot Red is my favorite red! It’s supposed to be the same type of color Marilyn Monroe wore! The post was too long to add lip swatches so I’ll have them up in one of my next posts!
The mini lipstick set was limited edition but you can still get all these shades in the full size. For some reason you can get the shades Noir Red, Red Velvet, Dusty Rose, & Chocolate Kiss in the mini version for $8 on Besame‘s website!
You can also get the shades Besame Red, American Beauty, Red Velvet, Cherry Red, Red Hot Red, & Noir Red in their lipstick matchbook for $6 at Sephora. It’s a great way to try their lipsticks without committing to the full price! I was able to get more than one application out of each stick.
Cream Rouge ($18) I have been loving cream blush lately! These are super pigmented so you only need a little. I’ll pretty much wear Apricot with any eye look! Sometimes I’ll top them with a powder blush but I don’t have to. They don’t leave my skin feeling tacky. I also like to wear them on my lips!
Delicate Rouge ($25) These blushes come in a screw top compact with a mirror in the lid. They are super creamy! They kick up a bit of powder so I just make sure I tap off my brush. They are buildable. I like to use a fluffy brush with them. I have to have a light hand with the Rose shade otherwise I can look like a clown! 🙈😂 The shade Sunkissed makes a nice bronzer or bronzy blush for my skin tone!
Rouge Brush ($30) I love using this brush for pigmented blushes! I loved it so much I had to buy a second one! It’s super soft!!
Boudoir Long Hair Finishing Powder Brush ($50) I admit this brush is pretty pricey but I’m happy I got it! I either use it for translucent setting powder or to wipe off excess powder and blend my makeup. The only downsize is it takes forever to dry! Like at least 2 days!
Redhead Besame Girl Brush Holder ($20) I’m so happy Besame finally came out with brush holders! They look just like my vintage lady head vases!! They hold quite a bit. They are limited edition so I would get one soon if you want one!
Masterliner Lip Pencil ($12 on Besame’s site|$22 at Sephora, Dermstore, & Modcloth) I have two of their three lip pencils. They are super pigmented and creamy. I like them but I’m not in love with them. I think they are almost too creamy. I prefer the regular Mac lip pencils. I’ll use these up though! I think I just prefer stiffer lip pencils.
Sweetheart Glaze ($5 at Besame|$20 at Sephora) These glosses are thick & pigmented. They are slightly sticky but they don’t bother me. I’ve really been loving how moisturizing they feel!
Brightening Powder ($22) I got the shades Violet, Rose, & Vanilla in a sampler trio. It was limited edition and sold out but I actually found it still on Modcloth! You can purchase the full size of each of these too. I like all three of them. I think they give a similar look so you probably don’t need all three. They are silky powders and don’t give me a whitecast! I’ll probably just end up buying one whenever I run out of them. I think the Violet shade is my favorite!
Brown Cake Mascara ($25) This is old packaging! It looks different now and I think you get more product. It also comes in black! I like this but I’m not in love. It definitely has a learning curve! If I’m in a rush it is definitely not something I would reach for. I don’t think it gives me much volume or length. I really like it for winged liner though!
Boudoir Short Hair Contour Brush ($45) This brush is super soft! It does take awhile to dry like the long hair brush. I just don’t use it that much. I think I would use it more if I still wore liquid foundation which I don’t. I actually really liked it for that! I’ll have to try it with my cream blush!
Travel Lip Brush ($15, Besame) These are the only travel lip brushes I own. They are nice! They are pretty much like any other travel lip brushes. I like to use them with my liquid lipsticks!
I went back and forth on whether to add these. I decided to in case they ever decide to sell them again. You might be able to find them on eBay too!
- Cashmere Powder Compact~ I have the shades Porcelain & Violet. I love them both! The packaging is gorgeous & heavy! The Porcelain shade is my perfect shade! It gives pretty decent coverage. The Violet shade is just like the loose version. They are supposed to be bringing these back out in bigger compacts sometime this year!
- Lipstick in Coral~ This was a metallic orange. It’s not something I wear much but I’m happy I have it.
- 1930’s Mascara~ This was a hairless mascara wand. It felt pretty dry & didn’t add much to my lashes. I will never get rid of the tube though! It’s so beautiful!!
- Blonde Besame Girl Brush Holder~ I love this! Hopefully they’ll bring her back out!
These are the only things I’m missing from my collection other than powder shades that won’t suit me!
- 1940’s Cream Mascara.
- 1920’s Black Cake Mascara.
- Mascara Brush Set.
- Besame Red Lipstick.
- Masterliner Lip Pencil in Cocoa/Naturale.
- Fragrance Sampler Set~ They are supposed to be bringing this back later this week!
While I probably won’t repurchase everything when I finish them, I have found a few holy grail items! Besame has become one of my favorite brands! If you are just starting out with them, I would recommend you try their lipsticks first!
xoxo, Amber 💋
