Brand Focus: Bitter Lace Beauty

**Bought by me. All thoughts and opinions are my own!**

Hey babes! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Brand Focus! I’ve been meaning to do a review of Bitter Lace Beauty for awhile! They are an indie company that got their start on etsy. They currently only have highlighters, compacts, and one palette. I have some things I love and some I have some thoughts on so keep reading to hear more! 🙂

Bitter Lace Beauty Highlighters

Bitter Lace Beauty Highlighters

Bitter Lace Beauty‘s highlighters retail for $18-22. While I think the price is a bit high, I really like them! They are smooth but do kick up a bit of powder. I think they compare to most indie highlighters. I obviously like them.. Look at that first picture! Lol. I don’t wear the crazy colors much. I don’t have all of their highlighters, but I do have a majority of them. Color descriptions were taken from Bitter Lace Beauty‘s website. They are a cruelty free brand and some of their highlighters are vegan.

I really like most of them but top favorites are Enchanted, Pixie Dust, Mirror Mirror, New Seashells, & Deadly Nightshade. Enchanted is such a pretty white! Pixie Dust reminds me of Laura Gellers Peach illuminator. I love being able to use just the gold or just the silver out of Mirror Mirror. Sometimes I swirl them together. New Seashells is such a pretty purple! Deadly Nightshade actually doesn’t look as crazy as it does in the swatch if you use a light hand!

Bitter Lace Beauty Highlighter Swatches- Golden Afternoon, Enchanted, Curiouser, Mermaids Lagoon

(Top-Bottom): Golden Afternoon, Enchanted, Curiouser, & Mermaids Lagoon

Golden Afternoon appears white in the pan but shifts to a glorious warm gold, with a hint of orange on the skin at different angles.

Enchanted looks white in the pan, but in the sunlight it has the most beautiful rainbow iridescence. Gives you a little something more than your basic white highlight!

Curiouser is a light blue/green shade with a metallic teal reflect.

Mermaids Lagoon is a minty green/gold shade. A seafoam toned green with loads of gold reflect. When rubbed down the green nearly disappears and leaves behind the most beautiful gold glow with slight green undertones.

Bitter Lace Beauty Highlighter Swatches- Pixie Dust, Gleam and Glow, Royalty, Mirror Mirror, Lumiere

(Top-Bottom): Pixie Dust, Gleam and Glow, Royalty, Mirror Mirror, & Lumiere

Pixie Dust is a coral toned pink that is slightly peach with an intense metallic gold reflect.

Gleam & Glow is a perfect warm rosey toned gold. Not too orange, not too pink, and is very flattering on all skin tones.

Royalty is a yellow toned metallic gold with the most gorgeous shimmer.

Mirror Mirror is a marble blend of 2 metallic shades. A gleaming gold and silver come together to make the most beautiful shade of champagne off white gold.

Lumiere is a bronze gold with a ton of warmth and heat. Goes on like a true gold with a metallic sheen and has warm golden undertones.

Bitter Lace Beauty Highlighter Swatches- Sweet Dreams, New Seashells, True Loves Kiss, Sugar Spun, Unbirthday

(Top-Bottom): Sweet Dreams, True Loves Kiss, New Seashells, Sugar Spun, & Unbirthday

Sweet Dreams appears baby pink in the pan and has a pink iridescent finish with lavender undertones.

True Loves Kiss is a light pink/nude shade that has very fine gold, rose, and purple shimmer throughout.

New Seashells is a pinky purple shade with very fine violet and blue reflect.

Sugar Spun is a marble blend made up of 3 cotton candy shades. A sofy baby pink, lavender, and baby blue. All of these shades come together to make a sugary sweet pink/violet with blue undertones.

Unbirthday is a marble blend made up of 4 cake batter inspired shades that come together to make the most beautiful highly reflective pinky nude shade. Swirls of gold, violet, pink, and teal make this funfetti inspired highlighter so flattering on all skin tones.

Bitter Lace Beauty Highlighter Swatches- Pocket Full of Rosies, Once Upon a Time, Deadly Nightshade

(Top-Bottom): Pocket Full of Roses, Once Upon a Time, & Deadly Nightshade

Pocket Full of Roses is a marble blend of 4 delicate shades. Mauve, purple, lime and baby blue come together to create a highly reflective nude.

Once Upon a Time is nearly nude in the pan but has a slightly mauve violet undertone with an extremely cool silver toned shift.

Deadly Nightshade is the most high shine metallic color. It is a cooler toned gray beige that has hints of pink and green undertones that appear silver in the pan.

Bitter Lace Beauty Prism Highlighter Swatch

Prism is made from a spectrum of 6 colors. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet all lined up perfectly to create a perfect aurora of color across your cheek.

Limited Edition/Halloween Collection

I didn’t realize quite how many limited edition shades I had! Last years Halloween collection is on sale from $5-15 right now! I really loved the liquid highlighter when I first got it but I think it’s too oily now. My favorites are The Next Supreme and Hocus Pocus! Slay is too red for my taste on my skintone. I need to try swirling Toothache together to see if I like it like that!

Bitter Lace Beauty Halloween Collection

Bitter Lace Beauty Halloween Highlighter Swatches- Slay, Toothache, The Next Supreme, Hocus Pocus

(Top-Bottom): Slay, Toothache, The Next Supreme, & Hocus Pocus

Slay is a white gold flecked base with an intense metallic blood red splatter. Both colors are gorgeous on their own but blend together to make the most beautiful rose toned gold highlight.

Toothache is stripes of yellow, orange, and white but once blended together they make the most beautiful warm gold.

The Next Supreme is a murky silver with a purple to intense green shift.

Hocus Pocus is a swirl of rusty orange, lime green, and purple that blend together to make a gorgeous lilac shade.

Bitter Lace Beauty I Put a Spell on You Halloween Highlighter Swatch

I Put a Spell on You is a pearl white base with an extremely iridescent shimmering finish with flecks of gold and purple.

Bitter Lace Beauty Palettes

Bitter Lace Beauty Palettes

I’m not sure if Bitter Lace Beauty is planning on continuing with their custom handmade palettes but I wanted to share my thoughts on them in case they ever do! I bought my first one, the one with the window, for $10 on sale. It is a really nice palette and totally worth what I spent on it! The second palette I bought was the gold glitter one for $60. I customized it how I wanted and absolutely loved this one too! It’s 12×6 and holds so many eyeshadows! Way more than a normal palette!

The next two I purchased were the 12×6 Marilyn and 6×6 Morticia. This is where things went downhill for me. Lol. My Marilyn palette had bubble wrap marks that I couldn’t get out and the Morticia palette slightly had them. All four magnets kept peeling off so I ended up having to super glue them down. I contacted them and they refunded me for a can of clear enamel spray. I just think for the price I paid I should have been able to send them back or get a partial refund but I’m not one to argue with someone. I still really like their highlighters but I probably won’t buy another palette from them if they ever bring them back. I just wanted to share my experience with y’all!

I definitely think you should check out their highlighters if you are in the market for these types of colors! Have you tried anything from Bitter Lace Beauty? What are your favorite indie makeup brands? Don’t forget to check out my other Brand Focus posts! 🙂
